The North Baltimore Aquatic Club welcomed swimmers back at NBAC Team Day this September for the 57th year. Starting in 1967 with only 8 swimmers, Maryland’s top ranked team gathered with just over 250 registrants this year. Athletes were welcomed back by a coaching staff that included 2024 USA Swimming/ASCA Top 10 coach Tom Himes, high-performance coach Paul Yetter, and a stable of 2024 Maryland Swimming’s top age-group coaching award winners including Kathyrn Violette, Brian Horan, Charles Nyasae, Will Williams and Solomon Snaid. Athletes from the Coppermine Bel Air and North Baltimore locations shared an afternoon of food, fun and team building. Named amongst the top 100 swim clubs in the nation, athletes are excited to kick of the season this fall with short-course yards meets at their home pool, the Mangione Aquatic Center at Loyola University, the York YMCA and Walkersville High.

Highlights of the day included a period to celebrate members of the NBAC family competing in college this fall and unveiling of our LA 2028 practice caps. These Olympic quadrennial caps have served as a longstanding tradition with the team and were highly anticipated by the older swimmers targeting the US trials meet and beyond in 2028. Additional highlights included the recognition of Emanuel Francis as the recipient of the Louis Lowenthal award – the swimmer transitioning from Imagination to Challenge level with a strong desire to improve in the pool, maintain healthy habits and leading with intellectual curiosity outside the pool. Max Kunisaki was recognized with the Alec Cosgarea Award – a rising senior in the Challenge or High Performance groups who lead with an indomitable spirit and indelible character. Congratulations to Emanuel, Max and all the swimmers as they build towards another record-setting season.
