North Baltimore Aquatic Club, Loyola University and the Towson - Catonsville Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity team up to host Maryland’s Day of Diversity & Inclusion in Swimming
FROM THE DESK OF TOM HIMES:
The North Baltimore Aquatic Club remains committed to supporting our local community and will continue to lead in the region with engagement in activities that impact those in our broader Baltimore family. Today, at Loyola University, NBAC teamed up with Loyola University and the Towson - Catonsville Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity to host Maryland’s Day of Diversity & Inclusion in Swimming. The event was designed to provide youth in the area the opportunity to learn water safety and learn new and/or additional skills in the water. The event hosted swimmers at all levels, from novices to skilled competition swimmers. The event was split into two, 2 hour sessions. The NBAC swimmers and coaches (as well as one NBAC parent) were the primary instructors for the two sessions that were offered.
The NBAC volunteers (48 swimmers & 1 parent) and coaches (9) did an absolutely tremendous job working with swimmers ranging in age from 4 years old to 16 years old. They were all awesome!!!!!! The participants all had a tremendous time and their experience is directly related to the NBAC volunteers and coaches. Many parents also volunteered in helping with various other needs that also made the event a total success. Just an awesome day!
We have had a tremendous year in the pool winning virtually every meet we have attended from the Christmas Meet to the ISCA January Classic Meet in Virginia to the MD LSC Championship Meets to the ISCA Showcase Classic Meet in Florida to the Eastern Zone Sectional Meet in Buffalo, New York. These are great accomplishments but I can honestly say I have never been prouder of what our swimmers accomplished today! Reaching out to the community, providing a great experience (and lessons) to all the participants involved. The smiling faces of the participants as well as the NBAC volunteers and coaches was PRICELESS as they say.
The Coaches and swimmers started the day with practices at 7:00 am and went nonstop from the practices to the event’s end around 5:00 pm. THANK YOU to all that put forth the big effort to make this day very special for 60 - 80 participants.
Thank You to Coach Paul, Coach Kathryn, Coach Charles, Coach Solomon, Coach Brian, Coach Will, Coach Chris, Coach Dave and Coach Braunwyn. Thank you for your active involvement in today's event.
Thank You to all Swimmers (48 Swimmers from Practice Groups: P1 (3), P2 (3), CH1(7), CH2 (3), CH3 (20), CH4 (2), CHA (3), IM1 (3), IM2 (3), IMA (1). You all did a spectacular job. I know it was a very long day but you all remained at the top of your game throughout the day from beginning to end.
Thank you to all the parents that took the time to assist with helping make this event such a tremendous success.
THANK YOU, IT WAS A PROUD MOMENT FOR NBAC AND ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE EXTREMELY PROUD OF YOURSELF FOR WHAT YOU DID TO MAKE THIS DAY SUCH A SUCCESS!!!
THANK YOU!!!!!
